Ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon I was always drawing and coloring. I was the one in class who would be sitting off to the side doodling and drawing faces in the blank spaces of my notebook. I dreamed of being an artist. I went to college in Boston to study fashion designing and graduated with honors. | ![]() College graduation at Old North Church in Boston - 1979 |

While my children were small I was designing and sewing in any spare minute I had. I soon had a small in home business of making prom gowns, formal dresses and costumes for customers & friends.

In 1990 I had some very profound spiritual experiences that increased my depth of appreciation for being creative. And in 1994 I picked up my paintbrush and just started painting. One of the first projects was a set of chairs that I painted angels on.

I taught a spiritual class in Quincy, MA called "Living Christ's Vision" and enjoyed meeting and discussing our spiritual nature with other visionary people.
Titled "The angels serving Christ" |
I continued to paint and through word of mouth people began to ask me to paint furniture pieces for them. I would paint a chest of drawers to match curtains, wallpaper designs and even storybook themes.
I painted chairs with beach scenes and a English garden mural to fill the walls of bedrooms.

| I even started to paint portraits of customers and their pets. |
With my natural passion for being creative, when I saw the hand painted furniture that Fairfax offered, I was excited and
wanted to be able to offer the same kind of quality artwork to everyone.
My goal is to continue to provide the beautiful flow of the creative spirit in the form of unique artwork on
furniture. So every piece can be a work of art and a inspiration for your home.
I hope you enjoy looking at these beautiful hand decorated pieces as much as I do.
Sincerely, Virginia Smart
